Peace Corps Uganda Donates Computers to Karacel Community Library

On the morning of February 2nd, 2024, representatives from Peace Corps Uganda and FICH gathered at the Karacel Library located at KCDC, Akongatar, Angweta Parish, Iceme Sub-County, Oyam District where FICH Offices are. Amidst smiles and eager faces, Samali, accompanied by Greg Ripke, the Peace Corps Volunteer stationed at FICH, formally handed over the computers to FICH staff and volunteers.

Speaking at the event, Greg highlighted the transformative potential of the computers in igniting a digital revolution, particularly among rural women and children who frequent the Karacel Library for educational resources. He emphasized the importance of digital literacy in today’s interconnected world and expressed gratitude to Peace Corps Uganda for their generous donation.

Samali conveyed her appreciation for the warm welcome and strong partnership between Peace Corps and FICH, describing the donation as a symbol of hope and progress for the community. FICH staff members expressed excitement about the new computers and acknowledged Peace Corps for their continued support.

Emmy Zoomlamai Okello, the Executive Director of FICH, extended heartfelt thanks to Peace Corps Uganda, emphasizing the profound impact of their contribution on the community’s educational prospects.

The computers, now housed at the Karacel Library, are poised to serve as catalysts for learning, research and innovation, empowering community members to access information and pursue educational opportunities.
